I have been reading here some in the past and decided, since it is 1/1/11 to finally join.
I have a flock of 4 Golden Comets, 4 Ameraucanas, one black I'm not sure what she is and 4 pullets that are a mixture of breeds. Oh yes. and two young roosters that a cross between Golden Comet and Ameraucanas. I have owned several flocks over the years, and still checking out different breeds. I bought a small incubator last summer and for the first time hatched out our own chicks. We sold several of those and butchered most of the rest. Our success with that batch was around 60%. I'm not sure if any of the failures were fertile or not, but we were satisfied.
As for who we is above. I am married and our son lives across the drive. He is married and has a child, they also have chickens kept in a separate coop from mine.
I have some knowledge of chickens, but there is always more a person can learn on these type of forums. So, I'll share when I can and ask when I don't understand
