Seen a posting for "need home for a rooster" recently lost my "Big Guy" the girls are lonely so hopefully I can find a fellow for the girls. I have ten mixed breed brown egg layers, very reliable girls even with this cold snap we are having. Excited to find others out there who love their poultry like I do.

Where in Ohio are you? Most likely we will have cockerels hatching in the spring. All of our roosters are gentle and friendly, I believe they are passing that trait along in their offspring as we've never had a mean one. We will be looking to re-home any cockerels (young roosters) we hatch in spring if you think you might be interested. We have one broody setting right now (she's decided spring is never coming...

) but I'm pretty positive hers will not hatch, they are due to hatch Sunday.

Ours are mixed breed as well.

Welcome to BYC!

There are a lot of very worthwhile roosters begging for a home - usually low cost or free. You could check out the Buy,sell, trade forum just to see what it is like.

I am from Logan County, keep me in mind if you have a rooster that needs a good home, my husband and I have a small 5.5 acre farm, we garden, grow herbs and like to be outside as much as possible. Thank you for the gracious welcome!!!

Thank you for this info, I looked last night, not much but will keep looking.
