Hello everyone. My family just moved to the country in northeast ohio and can finally raise chickens! :) we are looking for six full grown hens or pullets and are interested in red sex link chickens. Any suggestions for where to get them?

Welcome to BYC! Red Sex Links are egg laying machines. Meyer Hatchery in Polk, OH, sells loads of Red Sex Links. They market them under the label Golden Buffs (one of many labels under which hatcheries sell Red Sex Links). You can see their website at https://www.meyerhatchery.com/index.a5w Good luck in getting your RSLs.

I would highly suggest Cackle Hatchery. They are a locally based hatchery but they have a large selection of birds (including peafowl!). They also ship the chicks to you if requested. Just google it! ;)
Hope this helps out!

Sincerely,
Idis

I would highly suggest Cackle Hatchery.
If you don't mind mail ordered chicks, I've ordered from Cackle Hatchery (located in Lebanon, MO) before and have been satisfied with their service and chicks. They sell their Red Sex Links under three different labels depending on the red gene roo and silver gene hen used in the cross, Red Sex Link (RIR roo x Delaware hen), Cinnamon Queen (RIR roo x RIW hen), and Golden Comet (Production Red roo X RIW hen). Also, I've ordered Red Sex Links from Murray McMurray Hatchery before and they carry a good line of RSLs (sold under the label Red Stars).

Definitely stop by the Ohio state thread link that Mountain Peeps has included. You can chat with your chicken neighbors to see if any of them have any birds for you. Mt Healthy is a hatchery in Ohio that you might consider ordering from. I think Meyers Hatchery is in PA next door to your state as well.

Enjoy this new adventure you are on and welcome to our flock!
