Starter Flock
Chirping
(1) I am new to ducks. We got them 2 weeks ago.
(2) We got 4 ducklings because my quick google search said they are flock animals and do better in groups.
(3) We don't know what breeds we have for sure but based on google image searches I am betting on 1 Khaki Campbell (Nugget), 1 Blue Swedish (Blue), 1 Rouen or Mallard (Fritz), 1 Cayuga (Peanut).
(4) Not sure my favorite aspects yet. They are super cute and very inquisitive, but they are also SO MESSY! I am looking forward to trying duck eggs as I have never had them and possibly growing the flock if we end up with a male. We shall see!
(5) I don't really have any other hobbies. Although I have a recently new addiction to cruising and am very much looking forward to October when we go on our 3rd cruise.
(6) We are a family of 4. I have an 18 yr old son graduating in 1 week and a 16 yr old daughter. We have 2 dogs both females, 1 chihuahua mix (Mitzi) and 1 pit/shepherd mix (Ember). We also have a rabbit (Oscar) and a cat (MK for Mr Kitty), both males. Keeping the ducks safe from the other animals has been a challenge. The chihuahua likes them, is interested in what they do and is semi protective of them. The other dog and the cat are only interested in eating them!
(7) I found BYC by googling how to take care of these little ducklings we bought on impulse.
