(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Not new, but still very much a novice.
Grew up with them, and have started raising them again since we’ve started building our homestead. Started with 5 acres, now have 40.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
51-6 roosters and 45 hens
(3) What breeds do you have?
Black Australorps.
Previously had White Plymouth Rocks…never again
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Fresh eggs, cleared land and insect control
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
American blackbelly sheep and kune-kune pigs.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I’m a building mechanic, my wife was a nurse, now homemaker and homeschooler.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I keep coming here for answers, figured I’d join after lurking for 2 years.
I’m at the point where I need to start taking this a little more seriously as the wife wants to have at least 100 birds!
