Hi! I'm new to the chicken world. My husband built me a chicken house and run and we've been "collecting" chickens for about a month now and I'm up to 39 total. We have a variety as we are trying to determine if we want a specific breed or just an eclectic mix, which is what we have now.
I have what I believe is a Black Copper Marans rooster, two RIR hens which are laying, 5 RIR pullets, 5 bantams that someone gave me (the little rooster just started crowing - YAY!), a loaned Buff Orpington to raise 10 mystery chicks, another loaned Buff that just hatched 4 mystery chicks and 5 Black Copper Marans. I also have 5 black sex links that I bought right off the bat not knowing anything about chickens so now I'm wondering if I have all roosters... :'( I've been lurking on this site for awhile now so I thought I'd join since I have SOOOOOO many questions!
I'm a bit of a talker so I'll shut it off now...lol.
