Hi, I'm Bryony from Hampshire in the UK. I'm a total newb. We currently have chicks:

2 week old White Leghorn
1.5 week old Columbian Blacktail
1 week old Cream Crested Legbar (hatched by us)

We initially bought 6 legbar eggs but when only one hatched we thought she needed company so purchased some chicks.
All the chicks are getting on well despite the age gaps. I've joined to get advice as my babies grow and to see if anyone can sex my blacktail and leghorn for me.

Looking forward to getting to know you.

I've never heard of a Columbian blacktail, could you post a picture? I'd love to see them.

My Columbian Blacktail is at the front - The heat lamp makes it appear yellower than it should - "she" (hopefully) is quite ginger with a paler breast and the beginnings of slightly speckled wing feathers.

Google Images for Columbian Blacktail - a hybrid I believe

To the rear the much larger White Leghorn (which gives you an idea of th colour distortion as it's white!) and at the right hand side is the Crested legbar.

I've posted a picture but I suspect I hadn't confirmed my email so it has to be approved by admin. I guess it will appear when it appears!!

I believe they're a hibrid based in the Rhode Island Red (but don't take my word for it - I'm very new!!) Mine is just a chick anyway - here's some google images.

She is going to be very beautiful.

In America they are called Red Rangers, which is why I was confused. They are very pretty chickens.

Your chicks are very cute!

Hi Bryony, welcome to BYC!

Those certainly are some cute chicks and once they start laying, you'll have a nicely colored egg basket. If you have questions, feel free to ask. There is a ton of information available and lots of friendly, helpful members.

Nice you could join us and thanks for sharing your photos!
