Sorry, but they are still very good looking.Hahaha! Don’t say that to them! They are Belgian Malinois
It’s an easy mistake to make.
Nothing to be sorry about. They are constantly being mistaken for a GSD.Sorry, but they are still very good looking.
Out of interest, what are the difference?Nothing to be sorry about. They are constantly being mistaken for a GSD.![]()
I typed a lengthy explanation but thought this link would be better.Out of interest, what are the difference?
I am happy you are spending the time needed to make them great dogs. They sure do look happy and healthy from the picture. My Akita is not for the first time owner either.I typed a lengthy explanation but thought this link would be better.

They are absolutely not the dog for a first timer nor is it a great idea to have them if you can't devote a few hours a day with exercise of their minds and bodies. I spend 3 hours a day with mine. They are smoochy but they like to bite. They are the most reactive dog I've ever met. I've had 2 GSDs and much prefer the chaos that Mals bring.
Akitas are nice dogs! I considered that breed but decided against it for the same reason I didn’t get GSDs again, the hair!I am happy you are spending the time needed to make them great dogs. They sure do look happy and healthy from the picture. My Akita is not for the first time owner either.
My Akita does not get along with the birds at all. Especially the roosters. When they are in their run, he likes to charge them and then stops right before hitting the fence. I would not trust him for one minute with the birds. Akita's are great with their pack, but that's about it. I had a female Akita before Yoshi. She was more high strung than him and wouldn't let people come into the house. Yoshi is more chill than this and is okay with people coming in if we are. However, I see the "hunting" instinct in him with the birds - so being with them will never happen.Akitas are nice dogs! My chicks are just over a week old and I’m concerned about my high prey drive dogs that kill anything that’s alive.
