Hello everyone,
I've been a member on BYC for quite some time now but this is my first time actually looking through the forums.
I'm 16 years old and live on a 5 acre hobby farm in Verona, Ontario. I absolutely love animals, and ever since I can remember it's been my dream to become a veterinarian. I've always offered a helping hand to any animal in need of it, from rehabilitating sick or injured animals, to hand rearing orphaned babies... It's my passion and always has been.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
My family has owned chickens for almost 5 years now, raising meat chickens and turkeys.
It wasn't until I went with my dad to pick up some piglets that I got my own chicken, he was a
beautiful Black Breasted Red OEG Rooster(we assumed), The guy gave him to us for free
because he was selling all of his roosters to a woman who was coming to pick them up
that day and noticed that I had taken a liking to him.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I myself currently own 2 Black Breasted Red Old English Game, a rooster and a hen,
and a white silkie hen. We also have 10-20 Colombian Rock X Red Layers,
and are waiting to order this years batch of turkeys, meat chicks,
and maybe some new layers.
(3) What breeds do you have?
BBR Old English Game, Silkie, Colombian Rock X Red,
and some Meat breed that i'm not sure of the name of.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I found BYC on google when I was trying to figure out what breed my OEG was
when I first got him.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Pretty much anything that involves caring for, and loving animals
as well as a bit of art.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I moved from the middle of the woods to a 5 acre hobby farm almost 5 years ago.
I own a horse, various chickens, a LOT of cats, 2 Betta fish, 9 guppies.
I also own and breed purebred German Shepherds and Papillons.
Well, there you go, there's a little bit about me, I know it's long but once I start going on about my animals it's hard for me to stop lol, I love them too much
