Hi there,
My name is Ryan, and I'm here to post my obligatory self-introduction.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am new to chickens. I received my first juvenile birds in the last week of November. It has been a rough start but, thanks to some advice I've found here on BYC, I am pretty sure I've finally got it under control.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I currently have 2 hens, named Jill and Lil. Four birds have been in my coop though!! I had to get rid of Lil's sibling when he started to crow!
(3) What breeds do you have?
Jill is a Barred Rock, about 7 months old. Lil is a Red Star/Cochin, roughly 16 weeks old. Briefly had another Red Star/Cochin, and a Golden Laced Wyandotte. My partner and i still go to visit the two birds that dont live with us anymore. they are happy in their new home!
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I googled searched for advice on solving my many, MANY issues. This place has helped me smooth things out.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I love running and gardening. I am also quite fond of food and wine!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I live with my Partner in Oregon. I work in the wine industry and so does she, so we do a lot of eating and drinking. I aspire to grow more of my own food and love the prospect of raising chickens for my own fresh eggs. The birds have been a lot of fun so far. They are currently our only animals but a dog is probably coming soon
