Hello from Oregon!

Hi I'm new to the forum. We have four hens in the back and a big garden in the front. We've had chickens for about 18 months. We are thinking about adding goats next summer. I love having our little mini-farm around our little suburban home. I'd love to learn how you all take care of yours and if anyone is making urban goats work for them (and their neighbors.) Thanks!


This happened yesterday-"You know you're addicted to raising backyard chickens when you are only a tiny bit grossed out when you accidentally step-in barefeet-on the uhmm fertilizer that your chickens kindly left in your path while they were out.

from Alabama. Glad you joined us. Goats were one of the first things we added to our little farm. Not sure about having them in an urban setting, though, but I think there are a few people on here that do that. I think one of the turn offs for people is they believe all goats smell. The bucks can be extremely smelly when they're in rut (which is going with ours now

), but the does & wethers don't really have an odor. Anyways, once you get used to them & learn all about them they're easier to care for. You might want to check out BYC's sister site: http://www.backyardherds.com/forum/ & the Other Pets & Livestock section on here.
