Hi there, I've been enjoying BYC for a few months now while we get settled with our flock of 7. I had a solo pet chicken as a teenager and she was great!! This is a new experience, and I have lots of questions, so you will see me around several forums. We have 3 Barred Rocks, one RIR, a Black Australorp and a white Brahma hen. Our rooster is a Bantam Cochin. Looking forward to learning a lot from everyone!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. A lot of us were lurkers before joining.) You have a nice mix of breeds. The first breed I ever got (50 years ago) were Light Brahmas, and they were gentle giants. Black Australorps are my favorite standard breed. I raised them for years (along with dozens of other breeds), and they are extremely hardy, calm and gentle (my children and granddaughter made lap pets of them), and excellent layers of large, brown eggs. If you haven't done so already, definitely our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is loads of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

Thank you so much for taking the time to welcome me! I'm excited for our mix of ladies and Mister. So far we've been pretty lucky! We tend towards making pets out of all our animals. We also have dogs, cats, goats and horses. I will check out your link - thanks again!
