My husband and I were talked into getting chickens by his fifth grade daughter. We got four rhode island reds on easter. I have no idea what sex they are...I am guessing at least one rooster. We want eggs, so hoping for female, not male. Just yesterday I added three new chickens, unidentified breed to our accumulation. They are not out in the coop yet, as they are only a few days old. I'd love some help identifying their breed and gender as well. Pictures are posted below. We are new to this, so any tips and suggestions would be appreciated.
Your chicks are much to young to be sexed, though your black chicks look kind of like Black sexlinks, in which case they are pullets, as the males are a different color. Can you get some better pictures of the RIR?
Hi Glad you could join the flock! What beutiful chicks you have there! Congratulations I see you have posted in the what breed gender section, I'm sure members there will be able to help you. Wishing you the very best of luck with them in the future. Enjoy BYC and all the chicken chat
