Hello everyone! I am so glad to finally have a reason to be here! I have been a wanna-be chicken owner for two years, and after some gentle nudging (ok, begging, pleading), my hubby has finally given in. Also, those two years were spent having my now 2 yr old daughter and 6 month old son, and with him being at least close to walking in the spring, it will be more feesable for me. Anyway, we have no coop, no run ( I don't think we can free range), and very little knowledge.
But I have til late winter to figure this out, I guess. I do know the kinds I want, though: Buff Orpingtons, Black Australorp, Barred Rocks, Red Star, and Silver laced Wyandottes. We want ten, so 2 of each. Would love a rooster, but don't know yet. In addition to my hubby and kids, I also have two Bullmastiffs.
