Hello All. I've been wanting to get chickens for about a year now and the time was finally right. I ordered 6 from Meyers in OH last night (2 female Barred Rocks, 2 female Partridge Rocks, and 2 female Golden Buffs) I was so excited to finally have ordered them I went to the feed store today to buy chick starter and brooder items. At the check out the clerk informed me and my husband that "With the 50 Lbs. of chick starter you're buying you get 5 free chicks." So off we went to their brooder to pick out our 5 free chicks. (I haven't even received my order from Meyer's and already Chicken Math has kicked in!) We picked up 2 more Barred Rocks and 3 RIR (at least that is what the clerk said they were). Being new to chickens I cannot say for sure. And though we only wanted pullets the feed store chicks are straight run so who knows what surprises lay ahead.

from MS! Chicken Math is great.... I wNted to get A silkie this year and I finally found one in the Feed store, but you have to get 6, so I went from 6 chickens to 12! Congratulations on your new babies and enjoy the fuzzy butts!
