:celebrateHello everyone! I’m not new to the site (shh…I’ve been spying via chicken google searches ) but I AM finally a registered member!
Chicken math is not only contagious.., evidently it’s hereditary too ;) because here I am…. With a grandson literally BORN a damn farmer…he walked right out of his mother with a piece of straw hanging out of his mouth and wearing a pair of slop boots…. And his twin sister was right behind him with her lab coat and vet bag! she’d put Doc McStuffins to shame… they JUST turned 13 two days ago😂 and chicken fever has begun 😳 send help…. 😂

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
2020….sooo 5 years in August.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
30+…ish?

(3) What breeds do you have?

LG breeds: Isabella Brahmas, Partridge Cochin, Lavender Orphington, Easter eggers
SM breeds: bantam Cochin, Serama, Silkie, D’Ulcce, some are frizzled.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Who needs TV when you have a flock of entertainment in your own backyard..!?! They’re like watching all the channels at once! Romance, comedy, drama, sports… on a serious note… they brought me an unexpected sense of peace and calm..(I have PTSD) and have helped me through so much. Plus I love homesteading and being self sustainable!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Hiking, fishing, camping, rock hounding, homeopathic care, Native Habitat restoration on my property, crafting, photography,

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I’m 50.. operate my own sm. business as a certified small batch processor. Creating fruit spreads, pickles, hot sauce, etc.. we grow 99% of our ingredients and My son (33) is my grower. My Grandson (13) has his own little branch of the business.. He’s the PROUD CHICKEN DAD! He operates a pay what you can egg stand from our home. Featuring a chicken of the month, etc.. and has gotten into breeding now and has educated some Kinders on small breeds and hatched eggs in their classroom with them!

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D
I’ll shamefully say about 5 years now…I stumbled on the site during some google chicken education searches… I need chicken friends…. My people just don’t get me 😂 😂
