(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I'm brand new to chickens, but my mother has experience with them from her grandfather's farm.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Right now we are in the process of getting 3-4 ready to lay pullets or taking over some from our CSA's flock that she is getting rid of.

(3) What breeds do you have?
I really want buff orpingtons, but I think we will end up with red sex links.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Google!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I love gardening, crocheting, knitting, and reading.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I'm 21 years old and finishing up my senior year at college where I'm studying to be a high school English teacher. My family already has two dogs (one is 10 the other is a year old), two rabbits, two lizards, and a fish and I'm very excited to add chickens to the mix as we also work to expand our garden and produce our own food!

Nice to meet you Kip, Welcome to the Backyard chickens flock

Welcome!

As you have already received some links to great starting points, I will just wish you all the best.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock when they arrive, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
