I saw your site a few weeks ago, and really helped me in deciding to get chickens again. I have a small 2 + acre farm with all the buildings and very large chicken house. Went we moved her my husband's grandmother gave us her 3 hens and 1 roster. That got us started. We purchased more, and decided to hatch some ourselfs. Enjoyed every minute of it. Until a few years ago, something got into our chicken house and the fenced in area and killed each one. We had about 30 at the time, and all were gone in a week. We could not find out what was getting them. Especially in the fenced in area. Here we had over 8 years, and then lost them all. We decided recently to try again, everything is all there and personally is sick of eating store bought eggs. Nothing like fresh eggs.

I find our site very informative and I know I will enjoy listening to everyone's comments and questions. After looking at the formum found out alot of interesting stuff already. Keep up the good work.

Welcome back to raising chickens! Predators were one of the reasons I didn't want chickens again. We spent a lot of time and energy making sure our hens would be safe from foxes, racoons, coyotes, etc. that are in our area. So far, so good. I wish you the best!

from Schuylkill County! I grew up in the Lehigh Valley.

Good luck this time around with your chickens. It must've been heartbreaking to lose your birds to an unknown entity (geez, I sound like Ghost Hunters, LOL).

But, glad you decided to have chickens again!!! Just be careful, BYC can become addictive!

I am located actually in Bath PA. Thank you to everyone for your welcomes, and your well wishes on trying to raise chickens again.
