Hello, Im a long time follower and lurker, since about the begining of the oldtimer thread. Finally took the time to make an account :P I've been raising my own flock since I moved here in January, I moved from Northern California where I worked at a small egg farm. Long enough to catch on with the basics of husbandry. I currently have 38 Cornish Cross broilers (this might be the last day I can say that, about 8 weeks old now) 6 white leghorns and 21 battery rescue hens (which kick out about a dozen a day. I'm about 2 days away from finishing my second coop build. My first wont be finished until the Broilers are processed. I left it as a brooding pen for the meat birds since they don't perch anyways, but will be adding egg boxes and perches for them soon. The battery hens I have will move into that coop and my little leghorns will get the new coop all to themselves. I would post pictures but we all know the rules, so watch for pics at a later date. Thanks for having me, this is a great pool of info.
