Welcome to BYC!! What sweet chickies!Hello everyone, I wanted to introduce myself! My name is Christy and we started with 18 chicks last March. We have 12 hens and 2 roosters from that batch (rehomed some roosters and lost one hen). We also have about 12 chicks in brooders- some were straight run and some were sold as “pullets” we will see how accurate that ends up being. Also 2 broody hens sitting and one raising chicksthey weren’t kidding when they said buff orpington and brahmas were broody breeds. We have 4 chicken and 6 duck eggs incubating also, this is my second attempt incubating eggs, first attempt in my home environment and not at school.
We currently have dark Brahma, barred rock and buff orpington adults. For chicks we have Easter eggers, Rhode Island Red, Astralorpe, Silver Laced Wyandotte, Lavender orpington, Welsummer, Amberlink, olive egger, and light Brahma, we also have 2 barred rock/Brahma babies hatched by a mama hen. I’m still learning all the things but loving the journey and chicken tv!
Other hobbies are homeschooling, homesteading, animals and scrapbooking. For work I do photography, PaperPie books and virtual assistant work.
I found BYC doing Google searches for various chicken topics! Thankful for this group.
Attached are my RIR chicks at 5 weeks old. Pretty sure they are cockerels though… oh well! Also the mama with her babies (5 “adopted”)
Looking forward to meeting more of you!
