Hello! After reading a book by the local (and awesome!) Urban Farm Store, "A Chicken In Every Yard," I became a chicken person. Long and careful deliberation led to the selection of a Barred Plymouth Rock, Gold Laced Wyandotte, and Ameraucana who have been named Loretta, Wanda, and Dolly in honor of the beloved country music singer-songwriters. The chicks are now 5 1/2 weeks old and I finished building their coop yesterday - my very first construction project ever!

I'm looking forward to all the resources I hope this community will provide me, the first time chicken keeper.
