Hello everyone! I've been lurking around here for a little while and figured it was time to introduce myself!

I live in beautiful Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada and am getting ready to start building our coop. I've had dogs, horses and cats before but have never chickens and I'm so excited to get started!

Some of you have built such amazing coops that I'm a little intimidated to start building, but I'm just going to start with a small one that I hope to craft mostly from recycled / salvaged material and see where it goes.

I was going to buy the pallet coop plans from mypetchicken.com but have just learned they don't sell to Canadians! Does anyone else know where I could buy some beginner level plans to have as a starting point for my coop?

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan

I would post in the Coops section with your question, and good luck finding something you like. There are many plans in there as well for pretty easy to build coops.

Hi Lindsay44. I just joined BYC today and noticed a fellow Canadian! We are up near Ottawa.

I don't have any advice on a coop but I know my husband has found many great ideas on the internet for them and for tractors. Have fun planning and building!

Welcome to BYC!!!

Thanks Eastbranch! Nice to see a fellow Canadian as well! I've looked at SO many online that my head is swimming. Some are just so awesome but I have to be careful to not go too crazy - I want to finish the project, after all!

! Pleased you joined our flock! Don't be intimidated - there are a lot of great plans out there and it doesn't have to be perfect - make it sturdy & predator proof and your chickens will love you for it! Have you scoured the Coops section of BYC? Good luck to you!
