I have Zero Chickens unless you count my hubby. Let me explain!!! I grew up on a farm until I was a teenager - he grew up with a Gold Spoon. During the first 25'ish years of marriage, we traveled a great deal for his work. During that time I was able to pot garden. Now we're home and I'm not moving until I'm dead - I've been trying to teach him to garden - we're halfway there so-chicken time....
It's been about 40-45 years since I've taken care of chickens so I am rusted. I've been going at it as a beginner trying to see it from his eyes.
I miss having chickens because of the normal stuff fresh eggs and fertilizer, but I miss the sound/noise.
Currently, our animal army is 6 cats and 1 dog. All rescues with a back story of abuse and mine of wanting to spend 2 minutes with said abuser. We started rescuing 9 years ago when I saw a young man throw a bag out of the car window. At first, I thought young brat - then I saw something come out of the bag mid-flight. My son stopped the car I got out. He went after the guy. Police arrived with my son and the brat. I'm holding a dead kitten and 2 live kittens. I hand them to my son as he's saying Mom don't. No charges were brought against me that day. The boy-20, Raymond paid a $500 fine-cremation cost of the kitten and the fees to take care of the other 2 kittens until I could home them.
So now you all know that I'm a mean old lady when it comes to hurting animals (or people) for no reason. I love making items - maybe designing or decorating is a better term. T-shirts, mugs, tumblers, everything. The image is My Porch sign (I made it) the pizza guy had issues at first. - I don't sell them I do it for friends, family, and random strangers. I am a retired Tupperware lady (26 years) sales experience check. LOL
Also, any suggestions/tips for raising chickens by those with limited mobility would be lovely.
