Hello from Puerto Rico!!

Hi!! I have been lurking here for awhile and I've finally decided to go for it and get myself two or three hens. I am very excited and just can't stop reading about them. By the way I was reading that thread on the cackle hatchery surprise! So much fun!! anyway....I have a good sized unused fenced in area were I used to keep my puppies, but their grown and most are gone now to new homes. I live in the country, have four dogs (3 mixes, Snoopy, Guava and Daphne and a German Shepard named Isis) and a small backyard cat (calico named Luna). I'm going to start building the coop soon in a shady spot of the fenced area, It never gets any direct sun and temps here have never fallen below 60 and I live in one of the cooler municipalities. So I figure I don't need to much by way of insulation. (any input appreciated)
I'm so glad I found this forum and again i am very excited about raising some chickens.
