Hi,

Newbie here! :)

We took on chickens - various mixed breeds - when we moved to our now home. I wasn't sure about it but now I just LOVE 'em!

We have since got some chicks, again of various breeds, but am particularly interested in finding different breeds that lay varying coloured eggs so egg collecting time is fun for my two little ones (4 & 1)!

I've found this site a wealth of information so decided to stop lurking! Looking forward to joining in :)

There are two Aussie threads on here that I know of. "Australia- six states and one funny little island." and "Australians where are you?" You can also find mates on the Emu threads. We have many Aussies joining up, and just this week several from Queensland, that I have welcomed myself. Hope you will feel at home here.

French Marans will add some dark brown eggs to your basket, Easter Eggers will add green and colored eggs.

There is many different egg pictures on this site that will give better idea's.

Good luck! Dan

Thanks all for the warm welcome :) I had a pretty good idea on breeds and egg colour, but a couple there I wasn't aware of, thank you!

These are our chicks....
