Hello folks, just discovered this place. I'm a longtime poultry breeder but pretty new to the whole farm forum thing. Bear with me while I try to figure out how to navigate this new place!

I'm Mickey, U.S. Army veteran turned rancher. I own and run a small, sustainable ranch in Scio, Oregon, where I raise heritage breeds of livestock and poultry. My real passion is for sustaining rare breeds, and as a member of the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy, I've recently begun participating in their Java Recovery Project. I have been breeding Mottled Javas, and recently I've started breeding Black Copper Marans and Java-Rans for meat production. Like most of you, I'm sure, I started out with some old Rhode Island Reds, graduated to a mixed flock of epic rainbow proportions, and then settled on my current chosen two breeds of focus for a more serious look towards long term conservation and improvement.

I look forward to learning from all of you!

I've just bought what I was told is a white bantam Java. Lovely little bird! Hope to see you at the Java Thread.
