Hello from rainy Rugby, England!

Hello again everyone! Today is the start of day 3 and thankfully the noise has subsided. The warren still chases her around still but it is still an improvement on day 1. The new silkie hasn't been handled very much before I got her so she is not as tame as the warren, but i'm going to work on that and hopefully with a lot of patience she will learn to trust me, she is nine months old. Thanks for all your welcomes and comments.

OH POOH!!!!

So after a week of my new silkie eventually settling down with my old warren I am struck with a blow. The silkie crowed!!!

ah no not rooster, I had bought it thinking it was female! So because I lived in a quiet area which is built up I decided not to risk it with the early morning chorus, I brought him inside into my bedroom to spend the night in a box beside my bed. Early morning alarm call at 5am s**t the life out of me! I tried to keep her calm til 6.30am and rang my friend to ask to keep him at her farm. She obliged, so I have just come back from dropping him off. He had cut his foot somehow - nothing serious but I got upset when I came home as had got attached and felt guilty for his foot and for the fact I can't keep him. Why do I get so emotional about these things? I'll put it down to the lack of sleep last night and that my boyfriend is away so can't share my sadness with him.

Thing is the woman who I have got it from is exchanging it for a lavender silkie female instead on Monday. I hope she doesn't kill the rooster, just feel dreadful for the poor thing.

Hello, thank you, yes we are neighbours haha, Is the weather as bad over there? can't remember the last time I saw a sunny day?!

It's not been too bad for the last couple of days.... been fairly dry! Got washing dried too! Happy days but last week was a total wash out! I'm on the western coast so the weather is very dodgy!

Was just reading about your rooster! Hillarious! My broody has just hatched out 5 eggs (one to go hopefully) in the last 2 days and I'm hoping I'm not going to be overrun with roosters. My neighbours wouldn't appreciate it either.

Similar thing happened to my mum a couple of times, told she had a hen and then she had them home and they crowed. I was reading about sexing day old chicks today - I was nearly bawling when I heard they just kill off the boys :( I couldn't possibly do that.

Hope the lavender is a lady for you, my hen hatched out a silkie today - she had 5 pekin eggs and a silkie. I hope the silkie's a girl cause, I'd love to keep as many as possible (much against hubby's wishes) :)
