Ok, first things first.

Go Blazers! Go Ducks!

There now I feel better. My wife, two kids and I recently purchased chickens for the very first time! We were thinking about it for a while and took the plunge. They are soo cute! We have three girls, The first is a buff rock Orpington named Noodle. The second is an Americana named Matilda. And the third is an Australorp named Chandler. They are about seven weeks old right now. I get a big kick out of letting them perch on my hand and petting them at the same time.

Currently they are down in our basements in a big Rubbermaid basin we made into a brooder. We got the girls from a nice little store called the Urban Farm store here in Portland. In about five weeks we will move them outside into a chicken coop that we have yet to build. We are going to do our own variation of the Wisconsin coop. It will feature extended Gable roofs and an Austrian theme. We are going to call it the Chick Chalet! Like everyone else we will post pictures of the build.

I look forward to talking to everyone on the BYC and learning from Y'all!
I must say that having chickens has been a nice distraction from the daily grind of everyday life!
