Locolobo here. From Angleton, Tx. Have raised chickens before but lost too many to predators so I quit for several years. I am now back in the business with a new, more secure coop in a place that is less accessible to the nasty guys. I have a friend who retired, was moving away and was looking to get rid of his animals. I went to get 2 Lamancha goats to add new genes to my herd and came away with some chickens also. 3 red sex link and 2 barred rock hens. And a coop! No roos yet. I will be getting some Buff Orps sometime this summer as I had some before and loved their temperament and egg laying and meat potential. Experienced chicken herder but no expert by any means so I will be asking many questions and hope I can add something of value to discussions here. So, HOWDY!

Howdy and welcome to BYC!

Great deal on getting back into birds and a new secure coop. Your experience in the past will be of benefit, don't sell yourself short.

In case you haven't seen it yet, there is a forum for non-poultry animals you may enjoy. This link will take you there:

There are also state threads to help members connect on a more local level. Here's yours:

Hope things go well for you, your new flock and goats too!
