(3) What breeds do you have?
1 Barred Plymouth Rock and 1 Easter Egger

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Google

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have an Australian Shepherd named Rose and a Domestic Shorthair (Tabby Cat) named Charlie. Fingers crossed that they will be good around the hens! I live in the City but have a large side yard that I plan to secure to enable the hens to enjoy. Until then I'm setting up a smaller area to include their coop and run.
Welcome the backyard chickens. Happy New Year.:frow

G’Day from down under Cathy :frow Welcome!

I agree with Sour on getting three if you can. I started with two, lost one and was left with a sad and lonely chicken for whom I had to dash out and find a friend, waive quarantine etc. I now try to ensure that I do not have to do that again.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week articles which I have found to be a great resource and a one stop shop for questions which may have already been discussed within the BYC membership group. You might find this one of interest:

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock when they arrive, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)
