Good Day Everyone,
I found your site and thought you all would be a great resource for learning about urban farming.
My crazy son is a college student in San Francisco who thought it would be just fabulous to have fresh eggs everyday. So, he tried to raise 3 chickens, Brenda, Patty, and Clarice in his in-law apartment in the city. Unfortunately, Brenda, Patty, and Clarice passed on before they were old enough to lay any eggs.
He is now in a house and has a new chicken, ExtraCrispy. It is now time to invite Extra to the dinner table. (she doesn't know that she is the main course) He doesn't know how to butcher the chicken and honestly, doesn't have it in him to actually do it anyway. I told him that it was a really bad idea to name your food.
I am glad I found your forum. It's reassuring to know that there are other urban farmers in the world and San francisco. I was worried that my crazy son needed professional mental health services because of trying to grow chickens in san francisco!
