Hello Everyone!
My husband and I are excited to be new members of Backyard Chickens. We recently acquired 7 chickens - 2 Cuckoo Marans, 3 Americaunas and 2 red hens- not sure what kind. We are new at raising chickens and learning as we go so we are anxious to learn from you! We have an Aussie pup named Pippa Roo or Pip for short. We are training her to herd the chickens. It's a work in progress! We have 4 children and 6 grandchildren. We love to be outside in our little backyard farm!

Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

Awww! Your dog is just adorable!!!! I love her! Good luck with the training.

Enjoy your flock and welcome to ours!

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. If you want to post some pics of your red hens, we can probably ID them for you (a full body profile showing the legs, comb and tail will work best). Also, you're Ameraucanas are likely Easter Eggers rather than true Ameraucanas (a certainty if the seller spelled it Americauna). There is a good article on the difference between them at http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/2011/09/ameraucana-easter-egger-or-araucana.html. If you will post a pic of them we can probably tell you for sure. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

What a cute dog you have! Dogs can be great protectors of your flock as well.

Good luck with the dog training and welcome to our flock!
