Hello. This spring we decided to get into some chickens as we have been promising the kids we would.
It started out rough but we got things handled now. First we found 5 chicks and a dozen 1 year Olds. One of our dogs decided after some time to kill them. He took 3 babies and 9 layers in a day and a half.
So after getting rid of the dog we managed to get some more.
We have 2 pens. One pen has our "riff raff" 1 Sussex cock,4 white Lohman, 3 brown Lohman, 4 black star, and 2 unknown (original babies)
Then we found the ones we were really looking for so in another pen we have 10 RIR hens and 1 cock and they also gave us 1 americaunis (sp.)
I absolutely love my chickens. We let the riff raff roam the yard some days but not the RIR. The one we have named houdini will let us hold her and pet her.
We have been reading this site for months and decided we better join this amazing community.
