Hi everyone! I'm so happy to join you all here. We're planning to get our first chickens this spring and are doing much research. My daughter (9) is thrilled and has already named our future chickens.

May I ask a quick question? My daughter is working on an invention for her school project that involves chickens. I wondered if anyone might have information regarding statistics of growth in backyard chicken keeping? We've been searching to no avail. If you have any ideas, I would truly appreciate the help!

You might try calling your county extension agent, in the phone book under county government, and talk to the agent about it. It would not surprise me for that office to be able to get the information pretty quickly.

from Ohio. Well the membership growth on BYC went from 1000 members in 3/2007 to 50,000 in 3/2010 to even more today. So that should give some indication that the interest in having poultry is growing rapidly. Maybe the administrator Nifty-Chicken can help with your question.
