! Pleased you joined us! Most chickens are pretty good at regulating their food intake. I feed my hens unlimited layer feed and they don't over eat. What types (layers, meat birds, pets) do you have?

Are these meat chickens or layers? Layers aren't likely to overeat - usually people have a feeder out for them and refill when it is empty. They may very well be starving if they aren't supplementing your feed with free ranging for bugs etc

Also maybe your feed is lacking in things they require.

If they are meat chickens they are bred to eat a lot and grow very fast, to be ready for processing at an early age.
Even then they should have food available 12 hrs. per day, and no food for the other 12 hours, so they don't eat themselves to death.

Welcome to BYC!!!
