Nolly
In the Brooder
Hi everyone!
We just started raising chickens this year. They're 4-5 weeks old now. We got 4 Barred Rocks (hopefully all pullets).
I've spent a bit of time searching on here (as well as the rest of the web) to get answers to questions about everything from coop design to medical issues.
Before joining BYC, I discovered how helpful this forum is and decided to just join to better benefit and maybe help someday.
As I mentioned, we have 4 chickens. 3 are doing well, but 1 is sickly. After looking around on here at various diseases, I think she has AE (Avian Encephalomyelitis). She is about 3 weeks into the sickness. I have hopes that she will recover and be able to have a good life with us.
As we begin to get a better grasp of being chicken parents, we are beginning to look at what is required to introduce a few other chickens into our flock, maybe for a total of 5 or 6.
I have plenty of searching to do here, starting with ideas for waterers and feeders. You may find me in there somewhere.
Have a nice day!
