Welcome to BYC! I'm so glad you are going to be able to get chickens (even if no roosters). I currently have 25 hens and no roosters. What kind of chickens do you want to get?
 
It would be great if you could enclose them inside a tall, solid fence, so no one could see them. I wouldn't even tell neighbors about them. You never know when someone has a gripe and will decide to report you. As a greeter I hear about all the things neighbors pull. Welcome to the flock

Orpingtons are great birds; beautiful, calm, and gentle. I've had Buff Orps for years (still have some) and never had an aggressive one. My children, and now my granddaughter, made pets of them. Good luck with your flock.
