hi kaffleck im finding the whole chicken world really addictive, im loving it. whats happening with your chickens

Last year had a couple of ex batts - no probs at all once we got past a mite problem and changed their housing. Plenty of eggs too. I had to give them back to my mate when I moved house.
Moved back out to the same farmhouse as before (confusing I know!)and got a couple more ex-batts from the same friend and a cockerel from a bring and buy sale. Then a month later I got 2 POL red hens from the same breeder as the cockerel. I wormed them all cos the boy and 2 old girls had poopy bums (and no eggs!), and the next thing I know he goes downhill really quickly and died the next day, and then one of the old hens followed him. Got antibiotics for the remaining hens from the vet. Everything going well, old hen stopping being poopy. 2 young girls looking well.
This morning (just over a week since stopping with the anti-b's) one young hen struggling to walk when I go to let them out so I bought her in to the house for the day - didn't want her sat around getting eaten! Looks like she may have a scratch on her leg causing her to be wimpy!
This evening I put her back outside in the run when shutting away for the night and find the other young hen sat under a bush gasping. Can't see any worms (and besides they've been done recently) so I've bought her in now. She's been grand all day but now her chest sounds rattlely and her head is hot like she has a temperature. It's been really hot today so wondered if it was due to that! Will see what she's like in the morning but it could be the vet for her too. She's cooled down a little.
Glad you're enjoying it all. I'm desperate to increase my flock but scared to introduce any more from other flocks and have been advised not to for at least a month. Still reading loads though - you're right it's really addictive! I was at Tinahely show last week and the poultry tent was my fave!

OMG!!!!!!!!! thats terrible, has the vet any idea whats wrong with them, i hope things get better for you!!! I wanted to go to the bunniconnell show the bank holiday weekend to buy some more for my flock, but ended up in hospital with appendix!!!! Im ok now, just wondering where im going to get some more chickens to add to my flock
