Hello from Slovenia, Europe

What a great intro as well as the photos and the "eye strain advice"! Looks like you are building an amazing life and with a sense of humor that will serve you well.

Don't feel awkward that you can't share experiences -- yet -- you have already helped me learn some things. I had never heard of Styrian chickens, so I immediately had to Google those. They sound pretty cool! Same with Hovawart dogs!

I agree that, in many ways, ducks are easier to keep -- especially in more severe weather; cold, rain, snow, none of it seems to bother them. With no combs or wattles, frostbite is less of an issue. They can be every bit as entertaining as chickens and often just as productive egg layers.

Welcome to BYC; it's good to meet you. I have no doubt you will be able to share what you're learning in no time!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

Very nice introduction! Your photos are stunning, :love thanks for sharing! Enjoy your Ducks. A country vet once told me that of all the poultry, chickens tend to be the sickliest. Not that they all are ill of health but she meant thar other poultry are hardier and healthier over all. This was early on in my poultry keeping career, and I now believe her.
