I have 9 chickens, transitioning from pullet to hen. Today, in Feb., when they are supposed to be laying off of laying eggs, I got a personal best of 6 eggs. One looks like a newbie egg. Two are black australorps, 3 are black sex links, three are Isa browns and there is one barred rock...."Glenda the murder chicken". Hoping to get a roo in the next week, so I can start incubating eggs for Spring chicks in a couple of weeks. I have a line on an Ameracauna, who should make some interesting barnyard mixes. A neighbor saw a mama coycote with 4 pups last week, so I am hoping that my presence, and a Premier one electric poultry net fence keeps them at Bay. I gotta go to work. I kept chickens once before, but two years ago on Easter, a coyote killed all 13 while I was at church, and I came home to a dead coyote in my front yard, and dead chickens strewn all over my yard. I really hope this try goes better.
