(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I've been ruling the roost for about four years now! It all began when I settled into an equestrian neighborhood... a true hidden gem for animal lovers here in Southern California. Growing up surrounded by animals in Alabama, it feels like I've come full circle.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I'm a proud hen mama to a party of six!
(3) What breeds do you have?
Barred Rock, Buff Orpington, White Leghorn, and Australorp. Quite the combo!
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Absolutely their personalities! Chickens are the unsung heroes of the pet world. The way they get the zoomies in their run, full of excitement, when they hear me step outside - it's the best!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Dance, listening to Beyonce, fashion/sewing, graphic design.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
As a venture capital fund manager, my days are packed with high-energy everything. But, whether I'm working from the office or home, I seize every spare moment to be with my animals. In addition to the feathered babies, I have two goats, 3 cats, a dog, and snails. They're my everything, recharging my spirit amidst the hustle of business life.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I've been pecking around BYC for answers ever since I became a hen mama 4 years ago. It is a treasure trove! Funny enough, it took a burning question to make me realize I wasn’t officially part of the flock yet - so here I am, ready to finally participate in the convo!
