Hi Everyone,
New here and fairly new to owning chickens though I have been around chickens my whole life.
We decided to get a small flock of Pekins in June 2021. Mainly as pets but also to enjoy the odd egg. We went with Pekins for several reasons but mostly because of their size and the fact that they are good with kids. We have a 2yo little boy who ADORES his "Poopooms".
We currently have 3 young hens. They were POL when we got them but started laying a month or two after we got them because we got them in winter. They are wonderful pets and such fantastic characters!
We have:
Carol CHenning - she's a blue and our pet velociraptor as she is sassy with the cats
Liza Henelli - little black girl, she is the smallest, fluffiest and softest natured of the three
Sophia LorHen - chocolate girl, by far the biggest of the three, thinks she is the boss but isn't. Master slug killer.
Peeg - Munchkin cat - loves everything and everyone and thinks he's a chicken. He's great with them and they ignore him completely so assuming they are great with him too...
Catty - tabby cat - definitely wanted to eat the chooks when they first arrived but she has been pecked on the nose too many times and knows better now
