1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I'm not new to chickens, but haven't had any since I was growing up on the farm. That was almost 30 years ago.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Unfortunately, I live in a town that currently has bylaws preventing backyard chickens.
(3) What breeds do you have?
None. But I've always been fond of Rhode Island Reds and the speckled ones I can't remember the name of right now...
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I was searching for information on .... back yard chickens.... I'm hoping to provide a convincing enough presentation to our town council and mayor in order to spark interest in a change in bylaws.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Cooking, decorating cakes, gardening, biking, surfing the internet for new recipes.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have four grown stepsons, a wonderful husband of 25 years and two ornery cats. The cats run our household, and are unreasonable dictators, but I'm fairly sure that is normal cat behaviour. I've lived in town for almost 30 years, but still miss the animals on the farm and the feeling of being able to provide more of our own food. Chickens are the animals I was always most fond of with their cute little cooing and clucking, not to mention delicious eggs. I hope to learn more about chickens on this forum and perhaps be a small time backyard chicken boss at some point in the future.
