Hi! Megan and Chelsea here. We're long time lurkers/readers but finally got our act together and registered. 
We got our first 4 chicks just this past March (2017) and then got a couple more chicks and a couple more currently have 25 chickens and 1 goose... That chicken math is hard. Especially for 2 English professors like us.
Since we do a lot of teaching and introduction to basic farm skills (canning, quilting, sewing, gardening, pickling, etc) here at LochNest (built in 1946), we have a really mixed up flock to show the types and traits of different breeds.

Henrietta (aka Hen the Roo): a white easter egger who is sweet, gentle, and protective

Cadbury: Delaware and the cleverest of the lot
Charlotte: chocolate orpington who comes running when called
Ellerbee: chocolate cuckoo orpington who thinks Megan is mom
Floride ("Floor-eed"): Silver Laced Wyandotte and lover of ants
Genevieve: Ameraucana and shy thing
Georgina: Golden Laced Wyandotte and babysitter and fearless dog tormentor
Jane Edna: black copper maran and top hen
Lizzie: cuckoo maran and halpless follower
Maria: backyard mix and our "bantam partridge guinea" (she's odd looking)
Millicent: Rhode Island Red and our best layer so far
Nancy: Ameraucana and lover of dust baths
Penelope: backyard mix (Maria's sister) and the "frazzled frizzle"
Phyllis: black copper maran and our friendliest girl
Stella: speckled sussex and Great Jungle Explorer (TM)
Victoria: blue cochin mix and purple punkrocker (due to staining of kote)
