Hello and welcome! I have an automatic door in my coop and a large waterer and a feeder that holds 50 lbs of food, and I find my chickens to be fairly low maintenance. Perhaps start with just a few chickens and see how you like it. I had several brooders and several coops going for a while this spring and summer, and the daily chores became a bit of a slog, especially on the weekends when I work long-ish hours.
