My wife and I wandered into a local feed store back in March. My purpose was to look at the chicks as I’ve always wanted backyard poultry. There were plenty of chicks but also we noticed ducklings as well which we loved. We discussed it that evening and headed back to the feed store the next day. There were only three ducklings left and we bought them. We are now proud owners of three Magpies (2 drakes and 1 duck). Our female started laying about a week ago.

Looking forward to being a part of the forum.

Hello, and welcome to BYC. Keep an eye on those drakes to assure that they are not over breeding the hen. If they have swimming water, two drakes gang breeding a hen can inadvertently drown her.
So far so good. The alpha seems to be the main drake and the other one not as aggressive, except when he chases the dog 😀. I do plan on adding more females in the fall.
