Hi, all!

I have been lurking here for a few months and have finally gotten smart enough to join. This website has been so helpful.

Two years ago we sold our last home and gave away our 20 or so chickens (after having chickens 9 years). Due to various circumstances involved in moving and building a new home, I was just able to hatch some new chicks 8 weeks ago. I'll tell you, when those chicks went into the new run, this house began to feel like home. I even told my husband that, and he said he could tell by my countenance.

Thanks to the wonderful folks on this website, we were able to fix the feet of a chick that hatched with curled toes, and we were able to help the runt chick hatch after her membranes dried up in the egg and she couldn't get out. Both of these chicks turned out to be pullets, so the help is much appreciated. The runt is now catching up with her siblings, and I think she will grow to be full sized.

I'm sure I will enjoy this site even more since I can post and be involved. Looking forward to some great chicken fellowship.

TerriLaChicks: My chickens are all beautiful mutt chicks with a Buff Orpington dad and an assortment of laying breed moms. A friend of mine saved her eggs for me for a few days, and I set 30. 9 turned out to be infertile, and out of the remaining 21, we got 15 healthy babies. They are 8 weeks old now, and it appears that we have 11 pullets and only 4 roos. Not a bad ratio, and an answer to prayer.
