(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We just got our first chickens last week (mid-late March 2020).

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
(3) What breeds do you have?

There's 6 of them: two dawrf-Wyandotts and 4 Vorwerk

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

It hasn't been all that long that they've been with us. What I and my girls enjoy the most right now is sitting on the windowsill next to the kitchen table and watch the chickens roam in their extended outdoor run and scratch around the compost.
I also have high hopes for them to help me reduce the slug pest that eats anything I try to plant in my vegetable garden - so far the chickens don't dare to go that far away from their coop.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Gardening, sewing, cooking,...

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

We're a family of four with two kids, an suburban garden that's all about providing spaces for the kids to run, explore, learn about nature, build, climb, relax; providing habitat for birds, insects, amphibia and other small critters; a productive space to feed our tummies and souls.
I work part time teaching parent-baby classes supporting families in respectful parenting throughout the first months and years.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?

I came across the forum when I first decided we'd get chickens and have been reading various article when figuring out how to design and build the coop. Now the birds are here and there's new question coming!

Welcome!
I have only seen pictures of Vorwerk chickens. I think they are quite pretty. We don't have them readily available here in Ohio. Although for big money you can buy anything. My children are grown, my grandchildren are half grown and live out of state. I am mostly retired but work seasonal part time as a taxpreparer. At this moment I have 2 buff Orpington, 2 Whitings True Blue, 1 Gold Lace Wyandotte, 1 Delaware, and 2 snowy call duck drakes. I have had chickens for four years. I am moving to the country in less than a month and I have ordered 30 baby chicks.:celebrate My plan is to sell fertilized hatching eggs and pullets. BYC has been a fountain of information. I wish you success on your chicken adventure.
