Really? I thought snakes were all over. We have so many varieties here. Most are harmless- they just want eggs. The rattlers keep to themselves. I'm not afraid of snakes but I will 100% shoot any copperhead I see. I've been chased by one!

We have one called an Indigo. There's a saying "If Indigo, Let it go." They're beautiful and they eat the venomous snakes.

The BCM is at it again and she's broody.

Need an opinion! Let's say you're a pet/farm sitter and taking care of my flock for a week. You don't have chickens but have cared for other people's chickens so have a little bit of experience.

Would you rather...

1) have the broody stay in the main coop so you only have to take care of feeders/waterers there. You'll have to brave the broody when you collect the eggs she's sitting on. She sounds like a dinosaur but doesn’t peck...so far
OR
2) the broody is in the small coop so you have to check on food/water there but don't have to move her off a nest

I would prefer option 1 but I’ve had a lot of practice dealing with broodys so they don’t bother me.

With what your paying the sitter, I think option 1 will be just fine

For now she's in broody jail. I'll let her out tomorrow and see what she does.

After giving it some thought, I would prefer she stays separate away from the nest. The idea that she would be broody for an entire week while I'm gone... ugh. She would be even harder to break by the time I get back!

(And no, I'm not giving her chicks!)
