A Hello to all...I am a 60ish feather addict and have been since I was a very young child. I used to spend lots of time in Grandma's hen house watching the "goings-on". I watched them breed, the hens lay, chicks hatch, raised the nest boxes to find mice families and watch the hens fight over the "pinky" mice, and many other things that most people would find, at the least, a bit strange, and at the most, a bit perverted. I've kept my feather love all my life and during the past 15 years I've been privileged to work at an aviary handfeeding and other care. I've also enjoyed the companionship of several larger species of companion parrots. At present I live with 2 CAGs, 3 tiels, 1 Ringneck. Oh, yeah, and one husband who is very tolerant, even loving to some of the feathers. Over the years I've enjoyed having chickens of my own 4 different times. I've had tiny, tiny mille fleur & penciled duckwing, cochin, and other more common bantams. Just recently I was graced with a juvenile pair of Seramas. Ira has been crowing for several weeks now (DH thinks he needs a "snooze button") Ira has been breeding Emmi for about 2 weeks. Emmi is not sure about the situation but when Ira is successful, Emmi does the cutest little chicken dance/shuffle all over the cage. She jumps off the floor and does a shudder/feather fluff while in the air. Sooooo cute!! I enjoy reading all the interesting topics here and look forward to learning a lot from y'all. We plan to move to Clallam Bay, Wa in a couple of months so it will be nice to make ChickieFriends out that way. Bye for now. Jo
